Addressing the fire hazards in #charging cabinets.
Fires in charging cabinets for batteries can start due to several factors, typically related to the batteries themselves, the charging process, or the surrounding environment. To mitigate these risks, charging cabinets should be designed with adequate ventilation, proper temperature control, and safety mechanisms such as overcharge protection.
The MAUS Stixx PRO-series provides an additional layer of safety. In the event of a fire, the units automatically activate, dispersing a potassium-based suppressant within the charging cabinet to effectively extinguish lithium-ion battery fires and prevent the fire from spreading from the charging cabinet to the building.
Here are some common causes to fires in charging cabinets to be aware of:
- Overcharging: Overcharging can cause the battery to overheat, which may result in thermal runaway—a condition where the battery heats up uncontrollably and can catch fire or explode.
- Poor Ventilation: Batteries, especially lithium-ion types, generate heat while charging, and without proper ventilation, this heat can build up, increasing the risk of fire.
- Short Circuits: Damaged or defective batteries can experience internal short circuits, which generate heat rapidly and can ignite the flammable materials within the battery.
- Battery Defects: Manufacturing defects in batteries, such as impurities or flaws in the materials, can lead to unexpected failures. For example, internal defects can cause a short circuit or trigger a chemical reaction that leads to overheating and fire.
- Improper Charging Equipment: Using chargers that are not compatible with the battery's specifications can cause excessive current or voltage and leading to overheating.
- Physical Damage: Damage to the battery casing, internal components, or connections can lead to a short circuit, overheating, or leakage of flammable electrolytes, which can ignite.
- Environmental Factors: Extreme temperatures, high humidity, or exposure to flammable materials inside the charging cabinet can increase the risk of fire. For example, charging batteries in a hot environment can exacerbate heating issues, leading to a fire.
Thermal Runaway: - This is a critical failure mode for lithium-ion batteries. When one cell in a battery pack goes into thermal runaway, it can cause adjacent cells to heat up and also enter thermal runaway, creating a chain reaction that can lead to a fire.
- Overcrowded Cabinets: Storing too many batteries close together in a charging cabinet can prevent adequate cooling and increase the risk of a fire spreading if a single battery fails.
- Improper Storage: Batteries stored in a fully charged state for extended periods can degrade, increasing the risk of failure during charging. Additionally, storing incompatible types of batteries together can also pose risks.

Charging stations for your #electric #vehicle can be very dangerous
A fire in a #charging #station can have catastrophic consequences if they are in close proximity of a building or other vehicles. #MAUS Stixx PRO V1 is the solution. If there would be fire inside the charging station the MAUS Stixx PRO's technology will extinguish the fire fast with it's potassium based aerosol. The MAUS Stixx PRO units are so small that they fit into small electrical or mechanical enclosures that would benefit from automatic protection that will prevent the spread of fire.
The technology is maintenance free, residue free and non-toxic.

#Bränder inom #lantbruk innebär oftast att enorma värden förstörs, kostsamma driftstopp och kanske t.o.m. helt förlorade verksamheter, arbetstillfällen, m.m. Fires in #garbage disposal systems are a costly problem for Sweden's municipalities. Hundreds of thousands of Euros worth of garbage disposal systems are destroyed every year by fires. Together with the Swedish company SKYDDAT i Norden AB we have started to install our fire suppression units #mausstixxpro10 to overcome this problem. The solution has already saved garbage disposal systems from being completely destroyed. Each garbage disposal system costs about 14.000 € to replace with a new one. Our fire safety solution costs a fraction of that amount.

Brand i lägenhet – ambulanspersonal agerade rådigt med släckgranat: ”Bra samverkan”.
Så stod det i Nerikes Allehanda den 12e april 2020. Att den här #släckgranaten var vår lilla röda #handbrandsläckare MAUS Xtin Klein är det inte många som vet. Vi fick reda på det i veckan när Anders Löfsäter, som är ambulansförare i Örebro, skickade berättelser till oss om hur han släckt och dämpat flertalet olika bränder med vår lilla röda aersolsläckare.
"Ja, ambulanspersonalen var före oss på plats, och de kastade in en släckgranat. Den har så kallade aerosoler som kyler och kväver elden. Den gav bra effekt, så det var en bra samverkan, säger Anders Svedlund, inre befäl på Nerikes brandkår."
MAUS har utrustat #ambulanser i flera år nu med sin teknik och historier som den här gör det mer självklart än någonsin att utrusta fler ambulanser då våra produkter även kan användas som små "släckgranater" och inte bara som handbrandsläckare.
På samma sätt som personen som gav MAUS sitt namn, Johann Philipp Maus, ville rädda liv med innovation på 1800-talet så bekräftar den här tidningsartikeln att MAUS också gör det - fast på 2000-talet.

So he started a fire in his brand new kitchen in California and made a CCTV video. Amazing footage showing how smart the #maustechnology truly is. Addressing the fire hazards in #charging cabinets. Fires in charging cabinets for batteries can start due to several factors, typically related to the batteries themselves, the charging process, or the surrounding environment. To mitigate these risks, charging cabinets should be designed with adequate ventilation, proper temperature control, and safety mechanisms such as overcharge protection.
The MAUS Stixx PRO-series provides an additional layer of safety. In the event of a fire, the units automatically activate, dispersing a potassium-based suppressant within the charging cabinet to effectively extinguish lithium-ion battery fires and prevent the fire from spreading from the charging cabinet to the building.
Here are some common causes to fires in charging cabinets to be aware of:
- Overcharging: Overcharging can cause the battery to overheat, which may result in thermal runaway—a condition where the battery heats up uncontrollably and can catch fire or explode.
- Poor Ventilation: Batteries, especially lithium-ion types, generate heat while charging, and without proper ventilation, this heat can build up, increasing the risk of fire.
- Short Circuits: Damaged or defective batteries can experience internal short circuits, which generate heat rapidly and can ignite the flammable materials within the battery.
- Battery Defects: Manufacturing defects in batteries, such as impurities or flaws in the materials, can lead to unexpected failures. For example, internal defects can cause a short circuit or trigger a chemical reaction that leads to overheating and fire.
- Improper Charging Equipment: Using chargers that are not compatible with the battery's specifications can cause excessive current or voltage and leading to overheating.
- Physical Damage: Damage to the battery casing, internal components, or connections can lead to a short circuit, overheating, or leakage of flammable electrolytes, which can ignite.
- Environmental Factors: Extreme temperatures, high humidity, or exposure to flammable materials inside the charging cabinet can increase the risk of fire. For example, charging batteries in a hot environment can exacerbate heating issues, leading to a fire.
-Thermal Runaway: This is a critical failure mode for lithium-ion batteries. When one cell in a battery pack goes into thermal runaway, it can cause adjacent cells to heat up and also enter thermal runaway, creating a chain reaction that can lead to a fire.
- Overcrowded Cabinets: Storing too many batteries close together in a charging cabinet can prevent adequate cooling and increase the risk of a fire spreading if a single battery fails.
- Improper Storage: Batteries stored in a fully charged state for extended periods can degrade, increasing the risk of failure during charging. Additionally, storing incompatible types of batteries together can also pose risks.
Vid genomgång av rapporten från Elsäkerhetsverket framgår det tydligt att #MAUS erbjuder en effektiv lösning för att skydda flera kritiska områden där brandrisk kan förekomma i solcellsanläggningar. Den avancerade tekniken som används i moderna system kräver också innovativa metoder för brandskydd, anpassade för de specifika risker som uppstår i samband med denna teknik.
"I vissa fall är det relativt enkelt att peka ut en solcellsanläggning som orsak till en brand, exempelvis när en växelriktare eller en DC-brytare orsakat brand. Andra fel så som varmgång i DC-kablage eller DC-don kan vara svårare att enskilt peka ut. Även där elcentral omnämns finns risk för misstolkning. Det är ibland oklart om elcentralen avser AC-anslutning eller om det är en central för säkringar eller brytare på DC-sidan. Bedömningen av startobjekt ska därför ses som mycket osäker, speciellt vid ett så litet antal brand och brandtillbud."

"Clearly the MAUS Stixx PRO works against fires in #lithium #batteries." That was the conclusion that was made by Berndt Hovler, Fire & Rescue Officer at Dafgårds factories in Källby, Sweden. The question we wanted to have an answer for was "Will the #MAUS technology extinguish a lithium battery fire?” In theory we knew it was possible due to it’s unique features as the potassium based aerosol absorbs the heat and interrupts the chemical composition of the fire. But this test proved that the theory was correct. #MAUS extinguishes lithium battery fires.
MAUS is now equipping Toyota Indonesia with fire extinguishers for their new Toyota Yaris Cross models. Toyota launched an all-new Yaris Cross in Indonesia, which is unrelated to the B-SUV with the same name currently offered in Europe, Japan, and Australia. The model adopts styling cues from the larger RAV4 and the Highlander, offering options between petrol and hybrid powertrains. It's a 24.000 unit volume deal yearly for just this model and we hope to deepen our relationship further with more models so the whole range of vehicles can implement the smart, maintenance and residue free technology that will save lives and reduce damages. Now we can truly say "My Toyota Is Fantastic".

Swedish retail giant implements MAUS technology in server rooms. ”Recently we at Jula AB decided to start implementing MAUS fire suppression products. MAUS products will protect and enhance the operational safety at our head office and central warehouse in Skara (Sweden) by enabling early detection and extinguishing of fires" says Mikael Hellqvist, Group Safety Manager at the Jula Group. "The central warehouse operates 24/7 and a fire in our server room could have serious consequences. However, with the help of MAUS, we have now improved our security significantly and in a highly flexible manner.”
Information: In the image you see two red EGO Blast 150 units installed. Each unit protects 15m³ and the system can be activated by either smoke, heat or manual activation. The potassium based formula inside the units will interrupt the chemical combustion reactions by neutralizing hydrogen, oxygen and hydroxide radicals in the flame. The potassium based formula is not dangerous for humans and residue free. The system is portable and changes to the infrastructure of the enclosure, where the EGO Blast System is installed, is not necessary.
On the 31st of January 2024 we #patented our solution on how to stop the problems with #lithium fires in batteries. The production of electric vehicles increases every year, but not yet has there been a solution on how to suppress the fire before it becomes a fire hazard. Not until now. #MAUS has filed a patent of an invention where the device becomes a self-extinguishing battery that distributes the extinguishing gas evenly between the battery cells.
Think of the caps as two halves that enclose the battery pack and where the halves contain extinguishing equipment and electrical connection between the battery cells. The halves seal against each other and there is a separation between the cells so that the entire battery cell is accessible with the extinguishing agent if it should become necessary.

LEM INDUSTRIES in Tuscany (Italy) is a world-leading producer of galvanic details for the major European fashion brands. Over the years, they have been hit by devastating fires, which has resulted in three out of five factories burning to the ground. Together with #MAUS Italian distributor TECNO.SOL, MAUS was tasked with protecting the entire plant. The automatic fire suppression systems, #stixxpro and #ego, was installed in all enclosures and machines in the factory. A new way of protecting factories from fires without any changes to the existing infrastructure. Other smart features with this technology is that it is maintenance-free, residue free, non-toxic and does not require pressure or electricity. The installations were conducted by staff members from MAUS, Tecnosol and LEM.
